ODEX Casing Advance System In the sector of drilling mining and water wells internationally, DTH Bit is particularly well-liked. It is a down-hole air hammer system made to move drilling casing forward. The eccentric bit can be removed after reaching the required depth, leaving the casing in situ for sample or installations. The casing is removed when the borehole is finished and put to new use.

The  ODEX Casing Advance System makes a drilled hole forward of the casing's bottom using an eccentric under reamer. A percussive force is then given to either the top or bottom of the casing to advance it simultaneously. The drill cuttings typically travel up the interior of the casing in the annular gap between the casing ID and the drill rod OD when the hole is progressed. In overburden soils with boulders or gravel layers present, or when layers of rock need to be penetrated, the Odex technique is quite successful. Additionally, this technique causes some vibration in confined and superficial soils.

Eccentric casing sysrem(ODEX) Working procedure
1.When drilling starts,
the ODEX reamer
swings out and reams
the pilot-hole wide
enough for the casing
tube to slide down
behind the drill bit
assembly.
2 When the required
depth is reached,
rotation is rever,sed
carefully, whereupon the
reamer swings in,
allowing the drill bit
assembly to be pulled up
through the casing.
3.Casing tubes that are
to be left in the drill hole
should be sealed at the
bottom of the hole by
means of cement grout
or some other sealing
agent.
4.Drilling continues to
the desired depth in the
bedrock using a conven
tional drillstring.
